Summmmmmerrrrr!!!
Hi, blog world!
I’m sorry it has been so long since my last post, but as y’all know…life gets busy. But never fear, I’m back now!
So. Summer break is finally here. I’m spending my summer interning for Rawlings Sporting Goods. Yes, you heard me, that’s right. Rawlings is headquartered in St. Louis, which is where I’m from!! I am a Sports Marketing and Product Development Intern, and I am working closely with Jarden Sports Licensing.
Now for a little company history…………..
Jarden is the parent company which owns Rawlings, Coleman, Marmot, K2, and Mr. Coffee and allll sorts of other companies. Jarden Sports Licensing is the part of the business which deals with the licenses (permission to use logos) for the MLB, NFL, NBA, NCAA, Disney, Mattel, etc… so they make custom products- footballs, basketballs, baseballs!, flashlights, tailgating stuff (that’s the new market they’re getting into- licensed tents, chairs, grills, coolers, etc.–so basically tents that would be red with Cardinals logos on them, chairs that would be green with Packers logos, grills with Astros logos…), softee sports stuff for little kids, collectors baseballs and other items.
One other Intern and I have been working on some competitive analysis and making a powerpoint presentation of a bunch of other companies like Spalding, Nike, Northwest, North Pole etc., which are all companies that are in direct competition with JSL in some way or another. There are 21 interns total!
This past week, Rawlings took us to the College Baseball World Series– where Vandy is playing!! It was unreal. More details to come, because I’m headed to the Cardinals game now!!
