YES, I’m All Set For Spring 2016
Hello readers! *resists the urge to make an Adele joke*
Sorry I have been AWOL lately, but I have so much to tell you! For now, let’s talk about class registration.
Today, I registered for my spring 2016 classes. Vandy registers through an online system called YES (hence the pun). Before I registered, I met up with my major advisor, Professor Buckles, to have his advisor hold lifted (basically an OK from him).
Next semester, I am stepping it up and taking 16 hours. Most are major/minor classes, and that makes me feel super happy about where I’m at in terms of my degree audit and requirements. I still have half my time left at Vandy (where does the time go?!), but I am already nearly done with AXLE, so I can devote all my energy to my major(s) in Econ (and Math?), and minor in Financial Economics.
Here’s what I’m signed up for:
- Math 2300 or Multivariable Calculus: One of the required classes for the math major/minor, this class is one of the most popular math classes taken at Vandy. Thankfully, I don’t need to buy a new textbook because this is the next class in my calculus sequence.
- Bio 1100 or Biology Today: Popularly known as Baby Bio (that gives me hope), this class is usually taken just for an AXLE lab science credit. I don’t remember any biology (except that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell), which I last took as a sophomore in high school. But my friend Caroline, who has taken this class before, said this class was manageable for a non-science major. So if you see me running around in a lab coat, rest assured because I have no plans on treading on the pre-med track.
- Econ 1500 or Economic Statistics: Another Econ major requirement, this class is also needed as a prerequisite for a few of my financial economics courses as well. Thankfully, my dad gifted me an Excel guide to hone my skills before this class.
- Econ 3020 or Intermediate Macroeconomics: One of the most important classes in the Econ major, I am willingly taking 8 a.m. classes for this course solely for the professor, Rupi Saggi. Need to stock up on LOTS of caffeine to prepare for this course!
- Financial Econ 2600 or Managerial Accounting: The next required class for my minor in financial economics, this class is advertised to be super useful and practical. I’m taking financial accounting right now, so hopefully it will be a smooth transition from that. Also, this classes filled up fast (sorry freshmen), so I’m really lucky I got in!
Did I mention I have 8 a.m. classes everyday? Starbucks’ profits are going to rise exponentially. Brb crying.
Maybe it’ll be nice to have productive mornings. The glass is always half-full, right? Also, I did get all the classes I had wanted :D
