We’re leaving Tennessee!
It has been announced. Today, all the SEC bowls made their announcements and chose the SEC teams they wanted in their bowl. On January 4th 2014, we will be going to Birmingham, Alabama in the BBVA Compass Bowl.
I am very excited for this bowl and even though it is not one of the most prestigious bowls in the SEC lineup, I actually wanted us to get the Compass Bowl. Our other likely option was the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee. Since we had already been there two years ago, I wasn’t very fond of returning to Memphis and staying in Tennessee again for a bowl game (since we went to the Music City Bowl last year). And plus, I’ve been to Memphis plenty of times. So, the Winter break trip will be to Birmingham, Alabama.
My friends and I are already planning out the details now on how we’ll get to the game. It will consist of a combination of buying tickets from the Vanderbilt bowl website, figuring out who will pick up who on the drive down there and activities to do in Birmingham. I’ve never actually visited the city, so it’ll be good to explore a whole new world.
In other news, Michigan State pulled off the upset against Ohio State but Duke wasn’t able to beat Florida State to let Alabama back into the national championship. Oh well, at least we’ll still have an SEC team to continue the SEC streak.
