And I’m Back!
A little over a week ago, I packed my bags, said goodbye to family and friends back home, and boarded a plane in Los Angeles to begin my summer adventure back here in Nashville.
This summer, I’m working in Vanderbilt’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions (just like during the school year), with the exception that in addition to my usual responsibilities of answering emails and working on projects for the admissions officers, I’ll also be giving tours and helping out with the PreVU program this summer–so if you visit campus this summer, maybe you’ll see me! I’ll dedicate an entire post to work later on this summer, so get excited! Life in the OUA is anything but boring.
This summer, I’m living with fellow blogger Victoria in an apartment we sublet from a Vanderbilt grad student. Within the short amount of time we’ve been here, we are quickly discovering the many quirks of both our apartment and life as real people. (No meal plan? I have to feed myself three meals a day? What?) (Our apartment also has a hot water spigot and a cold water spigot in each sink…so you can’t make warm water with one faucet…so I awkwardly splash water from each faucet in each hand onto my face…I don’t really understand this design. If anyone out there can shed some light on this, I would be intrigued.) We also have discovered just how exhausting biking two and a half hilly miles to work can be if you’re not in shape. Which we aren’t. We’ve been so tired that we’ve been pretty boring these last couple of days after work–just making dinner, eating, then watching Friends till it’s time for bed. I’m still not entirely unpacked, but hopefully will be soon! Our apartment also still looks pretty bare, but we have a mission to finish unpacking and rearranging furniture ASAP, so I’m most definitely excited for it to feel more like home!
