Thanksgiving Break Coming to a Close

Thanksgiving Break marks the first time I have been home in over 3 months… that’s a fourth of a year! While the week has been full of catching up with friends and family, eating yummy food, and just relaxing, I’ve had a few other things to take care of. For example:

Chores: When your parents are empty nesters, like mine, they love to give you chores when you’re back at home. And since you are never there to do them on a regular basis, you feel bad if you don’t help out. So, unfortunately I can no longer hide like I used to in high school. I have started to like helping out around the house though. This break my brother and I raked the front and backyard for our parents. They were very appreciative, but of course the grass was already covered with leaves again by the next day!

Raking champion!

Appointments: One big lesson I’ve learned from coming home is that you catch up on all your appointments. I have gone to two doctor appointments and have gotten a haircut, and I have a dentist appointment set up for when I return home for winter break. Since Thanksgiving Break is only a week long, it’s good to have these appointments scheduled in advance.

Homework: Unfortunately, there is still some schoolwork to be done over the break. I have a chemistry test the week after the break, so I am taking advantage of my free time and studying a little each day. While the break is a time for relaxing, it’s a good idea to get some of your work out of the way so your schedule is not so hectic when you return back to school!

I thought I would throw in a picture from Thanksgiving dinner. Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, that has been the majority of my break… a mixture of relaxation and hard work. I’m in denial that I am going back to campus tomorrow, but I will be back at home in three weeks. Until then, it’s time to make the most of the rest of my semester!
