Parks and Rec
This weekend, I took advantage of the BEAUTIFUL weather and decided to experience Nashville’s parks. Believe it or not, there are so many parks around here. There are not only hiking trails, water falls, and horseback riding, but also outside amphitheaters, playgrounds and museums.
My weekend started on Thursday night (but don’t worry, I did go to all of my classes on Friday). I went to a free showing of Much Ado About Nothing at Centennial Park. The play was actually adapted and set in America Post WWII, so it was completely relatable. It was a beautiful night and the stage at the park was completely transformed.
On Friday, I ventured to East Nashville for a picnic lunch at Shelby Bottoms Park. This park is more urban, and is currently under construction. It has baseball and football fields and a full golf course. Even despite the park’s urban characteristics, it also has greenways and walking trails. It is about a 15-minute drive from campus.
On Saturday, I drove about 20 minutes into Belle Meade to hike a five-mile trail at Percy Warner Park. Originally, I planned on going to Cummins Falls, which is about an hour and a half away from school. When I woke up though, it was raining, so I decided it would be best to let the rain pass and stay close to school. The weather ended up to be amazing and the hike was beautiful. I did not even know that it existed, but I can’t wait to go back!
On Sunday, I woke up bright and early to take a quiet stroll around Centennial Park again. I think that the summer is just about coming to an end. For now, though, between the sunshine and the cool breezes, the early signs of fall are nothing short of magnificent. I suppose I’ll enjoy it while I can. As the leaves begin to change, my first round of midterms approaches.
