MeloPreparation
The beginning of this semester becomes even busier, as the Melodores have had a lot on their agenda. From beatboxer auditions to practicing for our big competition, the next few weeks are sure to stretch us in a good way. Congratulations to our newest member, the talented beatboxer Justin Kenney!
The International Championships of A Cappella (ICCA) Southern Quarterfinals are just three weeks away, so we have kicked up our practicing a bit. Three days a week are now required to achieve the level of mastery we want over our musical blend and choreography. Props to my MeloBrothers, Ben Edquist and Turi Clausell for choreographing our 3-song, 12 minute set. I have confidence that the work they have done will get us far. My job for the next few weeks is to continue polishing our set musically. I will make sure everyone is singing the right notes and singing them in a way that is stylistically appropriate. Furthermore, I am going to work on getting the group in the mindset of giving a performance to show that we have that “X-factor.” For now our setlist is a secret, but when you find out/see videos of it, I think you are going to enjoy! By the way, if you are in the Athens, Georgia area Feb. 5th we are going to be performing at the University of Georgia’s Morton Theatre.
