Long Time, No Blog: End of the Summer Round Up!
Well, it isn’t the end yet.
Summer 2012 has been my most productive (that is, I haven’t sat around on my couch quite as much according to my mother). Without boring you with the details, I’d like to quickly glance back at my summer and look ahead to the coming semester!
I got my old high school job back at Old Chicago in Murfreesboro, TN. It is a hosting job at a pizza and beer joint that is– well– nice enough to need hosts! I actually like the job a lot (as much as it stresses and wears me out). I also have a less time-consuming job working for a Former Congressman on West End in Nashville. It is not glamorous, but they’re nice enough folks.
I took a short vacation with my mother to southern Alabama and Pensacola, Florida to visit some family and the beach. I hadn’t been to the beach in almost seven years, so this trip was much needed!
About a month ago, my roommate, Cassie, and my friend, Laura, travelled all around the North-eastern US. Cassie and I drove to Indianapolis, flew out to New York City (WOW, what an adventure that was!), flew to D.C. a few times (the airport… but it counts!), and eventually I ended up back in Nashville. I feel like I’m still recovering from that “vacation.”
To wind down my summer, I’m re-watching the first season of Game of Thrones (Have. You. Seen. It?!), buying textbooks, and seeing family. Also, I’m constantly creeping on my future home: Blakemore.
I submitted my two weeks notice the other day at work and am finally able to squint at the horizon that is my first semester of junior year.
(….Oh wow… junior year…)
I and several other students have already begun discussions (and emails and Skype dates and texts and hard copies and calls and more emails) regarding Spotlight 2012– Vanderbilt’s annual showcase of dozens of the performing arts groups on campus. I am lucky enough (or crazy enough) to be the Stage Manager this year, and I am beyond excited. But more about that in the next month or so…
I’ve broken in a new pair of sandals, bought a new tea set for my roommate and me, and have spent way too much money on an evolving wardrobe.
Besides those big announcements (*eye roll*), I’m enrolled in fifteen hours, was appointed to Education Chair of Vanderbilt CARES, and still get to blog for you fine people! I’m the Stage Manager of Original Cast and, of course, plan on staying involved in Vanderbilt University Theatre.
This is undoubtedly going to be the best year yet. So, stay tuned!
