Summer Plans
I thought I’d talk a little bit about what I’m doing this summer since many of my fellow Inside ‘Dores bloggers have shared what they’re doing. As a music major, usually I would be off to some summer intensive music camp, but this year is a bit different. I haven’t actually been home for the summer since I was in middle school since I’ve always attended some sort of 5-7 week music camp to practice and improve my playing, so this summer I plan to stay home and rest. Don’t worry, I’ll still be practicing cello everyday!
Here are my summer plans:
This weekend I’ll be flying down to LA to see BTS (k-pop band) live in their first stadium concert! I’m super excited because I haven’t had the time to go to many concerts this year in Nashville and it was super hard to get tickets. A week-long Hawaii family trip is in the works to celebrate my 21st birthday and my dad’s birthday. I’m excited to go back since we haven’t been there in about a decade. Because I love the refugee class that I’m taking, for the rest of the summer I’ll be interning at a local organization that helps refugees integrate into society. In my refugee class, we’ve been talking a lot about the problems of the perceptions of refugees and their struggles in assimilating into our society. I am super passionate about giving back to the community and service, so this is a perfect opportunity. We’re also taking a family trip to Boston and I’m excited to visit some old music camp friends at the New England Conservatory. Additionally, I want to read for fun more and spend more time with my family. I hope to relax and have a chance to breathe a bit before senior year starts in August.
