Early Decision Memory
It was this time of year, December, but 3 years ago. I was a senior in high school in Shreveport, LA.
I remember receiving an email from Vanderbilt, saying that the decision was available to be viewed.
Though I could have opened it right then and there, while at school, I waited until I got home and let the tension build until my dad also was home so we could open it together.
After a few hours of agony, it was finally time.
December 12th, 2015.
I clicked on the link to take my to my application portal.
And there it was.
“Deniz, YOU’RE IN. Welcome to the Vanderbilt Class of 2020!”
Both my dad and I jumped for joy, and so did my mom when she got came home shortly after.
This was it.
And now, I can say I am so glad I made that decision! I would not have traded my college experience thus far for anything else.
While most of my friends at the time still were unsure where they would end up, I already knew, and that was such a comforting feeling.
So, to the newest members of the Vanderbilt Class of 2023, congratulations! Y’all made it. Now enjoy the rest of senior year of high school!
