Spring Semester Check In

Posted by on Monday, February 19, 2018 in Academics, Exams, Learning Style.

It’s hard to believe that the semester is already almost halfway done, and I’m quickly on my way to being a senior. With midterms and Spring Break quickly approaching, here are some tips that I’ve found helpful to make sure that I’m on track for the rest of the semester:

  • Go to office hours. Make sure you have a good grasp on all of the material and readings completed in your class as soon as you finish each topic. Don’t wait until right before midterms to try and catch up or re-learn confusing material. Also, make sure you are clear on all project expectations and requirements that you will need to get started on over Spring Break.
  • Make a game plan. Speaking of Spring Break, I find it helpful to make a plan of when I need to start on all of my midterm assignments, especially ones due right after Spring Break, so that I can work ahead before I leave town, and don’t have to spend my whole vacation doing work.
  • Monitor your class participation. Almost all of my classes have a graded participation component, and I am definitely on the shier side in regards to public speaking, so I always make sure to self-evaluate my participation around this point in the semester in order to determine if I need to speak up more in class.
My class schedule for this semester. I am choosing to double major and double minor, and I have really enjoyed strategically planning my schedule so that I get to take a variety of classes in different disciplines each semester.
