The Nashville Ballet: Dracula!
This Thursday I got to sit in the front row of the Nashville Ballet’s opening performance of “Dracula” for free, courtesy of Stambaugh’s AMAZING faculty head of house, Alice Randall (she has her own Wikipedia page so you know she’s super legit). Al Pal offered up seats to the whole house and around 15 of us got to see the performance.
It was my first time sitting in the front row for a professional performance, and I’m thrilled that Al Pal gave us that opportunity. The director of the Nashville Ballet board came to one of our Stambaugh soirees (a blog post on those coming up soon!) a couple weeks ago, so she made sure we got the best seats.
The ballet was beautiful, and I was really impressed with the quality of the performance! Afterwards, Al Pal and her husband David invited us to their apartment for tea, and we got to chat about the performance and other opportunities in Nashville (David is an 9th generation Nashvillian so he knows absolutely everything about the city). Al Pal served us tea in the cutest assortment of cups and told us the story of each one; my friend got a cup that Einstein drank out of because he was casually family friends with members of her family.
It was a great night and I’m so grateful for Stambaugh and the whole Commons experience for offering up opportunities like this to us freshman! There were two Stambaugh alumni at the performance too, so it’s comforting to know that the fun and opportunities don’t end when we leave this wonderful place! Best wishes to everyone applying ED — you’re making the right decision :) As always, if you have any last minute questions about Vandy feel free to e-mail me!! (abigail.wei@vanderbilt.edu)
