Wonderful Whirlwind Weekend (Part 1)

Hello friends! I’m sorry it has been so long since my last blog! The semester is flying by and these past few weeks have been jam-packed. Last weekend was especially crazy as I got the chance to experience the best 48 hours of my life so far at Vanderbilt!

Last Friday night, Vanderbilt Programming Board brought The Second City Comedy Troupe to campus. If you haven’t heard of Second City, you absolutely need to check them out. Second City has been doing improve and sketch shows for decades and famous alumni include Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Steve Carell, and Stephen Colbert. With the knowledge that these people might one day be on SNL, my friends and I gladly bought tickets and headed off to enjoy the show. Trust me, the incredible men and women on stage did not disappoint. We laughed until our sides hurt!

After Second City, I dashed back to my dorm to change for the most spectacular event I have ever been to in my life: Commons Ball. What is Commons Ball you may ask? Commons Ball is a giant, incredible party planned by the House Presidents. This year’s theme was Disney, “Vandy Ever After.” Aditi and Ishani have already written two incredible posts about Commons Ball that perfectly capture just how amazing a night it was.

Before Commons Ball, I ran into Dean Wcislo, the Dean of the Ingram Commons. He mentioned how great it was to have Commons Ball as an opportunity for our entire class to come together under one roof. The 1600 of us in the Class of 2018 are all here for different reasons. We all have our own passions and academic interests, hobbies and favorite bands, hometowns and cultures. The one thing that unites us despite all of our differences is that we’re all here at Vanderbilt. We all get to work, learn, sleep, eat, pray, love on this campus and then go spend three hours in our own personal Disney World. How am I now one of the luckiest girls in the world? I feel so blessed each and every day to be a Commodore.

HOWEVER, Friday night was only Part 1 of my adventurous weekend. As soon as the event was over, I got some much needed sleep to prepare for Vandy’s 13.1 hour Dance Marathon!

Much love,

Gabi
