A Day on Ice
Inspired by the great season that the Nashville Predators are having, I decided it was time to return to the ice skating rink and to continue my pursuit of being an Olympic Figure Skater.
I found a large group of people willing to go ice-skating and so we headed off towards Centennial Sportsplex, a mere walk across the street from Vanderbilt, where we put on our blades and skated away into the sunset. Since it was a weekend afternoon, the rink was PACKED and there were so many people around that I was pushing people out of my way.
Nevertheless, I was able to show off my mediocre ice skating talents to the world and look forward to hearing back from Olympic scouts. Now you may be asking, “Jae, what country would you represent in the Olympics?” Well, although I am an Australian citizen, I would have to represent South Korea. The country that holds the soil on which I was brought into this world, the country occupied by peoples whose same blood runs through my veins, the country that is home to K-Pop. My motherland. Though, I don’t speak Korean too well so I might have to go be an Australian so I can communicate better with everyone.
These are the questions that linger in my mind.
After ice-skating, we all went to Chili’s. Why Chili’s? Because its the place where all Vandy students go. Rather, because its really close to campus and its on the card. As a college student considering places to eat, “whichever is closest” is usually the default answer.
