The Best Music You’ve Never Heard Of
Hey there, blogworld!
I am all sorts of excitement on this lovely Tuesday afternoon because I just discovered I will be the Events Coordinator for WRVU this fall!
For those of you unfamiliar with the coolness that is WRVU, let me fill you in. We are a free-format college radio station specializing in the best of music you can’t hear anywhere else.
I decided I wanted to get involved with WRVU after meeting some of hip kids who worked there earlier this year. Everyone at WRVU is extremely chill and very dedicated to music. It was a nice fit for me.
I trained at the station my first semester with a really cool DJ who taught me the ins and outs of hosting a radio show. At the start of my second semester, I had my own radio show! Every Thursday morning at 10:30 am you could tune into “The Grapevine” and hear me spinning out some great grapes of music.
After a couple months of having my own show, I was honored to be named DJ of the Month. It was a pretty big deal. Needless to say, I was very excited.
So the time came around for people to apply to the WRVU staff, and I definitely wanted to be involved. I applied to practically every position, even some that had already been filled, but, hey, I was excited! I interviewed with the station’s super savvy new general manager, and I just found out I will be the events coordinator for the fall! That means I am in charge of the, uhm, well, events that WRVU hosts! I will be conducting a lot of interviews and talking to a lot of bands. Basically, I am stoked.
I know this semester isn’t quite over, and summer isn’t even here yet, but I am already looking forward to the fall!
Peace and radio waves!
