Welcome to Nashville, Steve Aoki
If you haven’t heard already, the buzz around campus for the past five days has been all about Steve Aoki!! The incredibly popular DJ was just announced this weekend as one of the headliners for Vanderbilt’s annual Rites of Spring Music Festival, and as one of the members of VPB’s Music Group, I’m so happy I don’t have to keep that secret anymore!! The group has been working on this lineup since October, and to be able to follow up the wildly successful Commodore Quake with other talented, big-name artists is such an incredible feeling.
Now that we finally have the lineup ready, we’re all gearing up to promote the show. This past weekend, another member and I headed to Frothy Monkey (an awesome Nashville coffee shop) to work on our press release far away from the prying eyes of Vandy kids, and come Friday, when the rest of the lineup is announced, it’ll be ready to go out to all the news outlets in Nashville.
With the lineup being announced so soon, I won’t have to keep secrets from you guys for that much longer, but for now all I can say is that Steve won’t be the only exciting name on the list! This year’s Rites is from April 11-12, and for prospective students it really is a great time to see the campus in action. But if you can’t make it, don’t worry, you can always live vicariously through the Rites Twitter account, @ritesatvandy, and join me in my perpetual countdown until the best weekend of the year!
