The Drive to Miami- Part 2
In honor of the one year anniversary of my sister’s acceptance to Vanderbilt, she decided to share her thoughts on her first semester of college. In case you have forgotten the story of Brittany’s acceptance, click here to refresh your memory.
On move in day, I was greeted by thousands of upper classman cheering for me as I pulled in. In the weeks following move in, I got used to the cheering. Cheers surrounded me as I, with the rest of the Class of 2017, got to run across the football field in front of a sold-out crowd before the first football game of the season. As the semester went on, I took part in the cheering as Murray competed in many house events for the commons cup title. (Wish us luck!) But as the semester came to a close, the only cheers to be heard were the ones of relief with the end of finals. I survived!
This semester went by so quickly but not a day went by where there wasn’t cheer of some sort. From Vanderbilt’s third consecutive bowl game, to Murray’s victories in the commons cup competition, to the successful completion of my first semester, every day brought something to celebrate. One of the greatest moments of my first semester was when I rushed the football field, along with 1,700 other freshmen in Vanderbilt’s season opener. Or maybe it was when I tasted my first Vanderbilt brookie (half cookie, half brownie). It could have also been when James Franklin personally responded to one of my tweets (he is my hero). I guess there have been quite a few, but that is because I make great moments at Vanderbilt every day.
With the completion of this semester, I have realized that I cannot picture myself at any other school. Vanderbilt is amazing every way you look at it. Vanderbilt is perfect for many reasons: the food is delicious, the community is close knit like a family, we have an amazing football team, the classes are engaging and challenging, and the campus is beautiful. There is no place I would rather be and I can’t wait to cheer for my Commodores for the next seven semesters.
…Well isn’t she just the cutest! She loves Vanderbilt, and you will too! Here are some photo memories published with Brittany’s permission.
