My Winter Break To-Do List
Winter Break is literally the best when you are in college. The semester is over and so you have NOTHING academic to do. Now that I have been home for 36 hours, and have slept for about 20 of them, I am ready to rejoin society and start having fun! Here is my to- do list:
Read: My new-school resolution before this semester was to read for 10 minutes every night. I have actually read some great novels this semester, in addition to the books I read for school. I read Child 44 and This Is Where I Leave You as well as some others. Now that I am on break though, I have more than enough time to increase my daily reading goal. I am currently reading a play by my Professor, Edward Friedman. He gave it to us on the last day of class. It is called: Crossing the Line: A Quixotic Adventure in Two Acts and you can buy it on Amazon.
Run: I love running, but in the winter, I am confined to the treadmill in the gym at Alumni Hall. I am so lucky that I am from Miami Beach. I hate to brag, but (I love to brag) Miami Beach in the winter is perfect. Usually, it is 70 degrees and sunny, but today it is actually 85. Needless to say, I can run outside almost every day. This break, I am going to devise some new routes and hopefully recruit some running buddies.
Spend time with childhood friends: Over the past three and a half years, it has become increasingly more difficult to coordinate schedules among my friends from home. As we get older, we are getting busier and doing things that prevent us from coming home during breaks. This break, for example, one of my best friends stayed at school to ski before heading to India to take part in service learning. Technically, though, with most of my friends graduating this year (one of my friends actually graduated today!), this is the last time that we will be home with NOTHING academic to do. I hope that this break is full of lunches and movies and game nights with the kids with whom I grew up. I hate thinking that next time we are all together, we will be college graduates.
My break may seem pretty ordinary, but after such a busy semester, it is just what I need in order to conquer my last semester (and prevail).
