Intern Life- Getting the Job
Thursday marked the last day of my internship at ad agency redpepper, and I am terribly sad to leave. I had an absolutely amazing time, spending every Tuesday and Thursday of my summer in Nashville there, and I’m definitely planning on visiting during the school year, since redpepper is just off of West End–only a ten minute walk from where I’m living next semester!
This post is the first in a series about my internship at redpepper–there are so many things to tell you about! But initially, I want to talk about how I actually got the position. I had heard of redpepper and their internship program, and had a major company crush on them. I loved their work and culture. Then, in my advanced marketing course, Ben Morton who is the media director at redpepper came and spoke to my class. After his presentation, I asked him a few questions about the intern program and he was incredibly helpful and gave me his card, telling me to e-mail him if I applied.
Flash forward to the end of the semester–I applied to the internship pretty late, thinking it most likely wouldn’t work out but it was worth a shot. After I got home, I still hadn’t heard from redpepper and decided to follow up by e-mailing Ben, assuming they had already found all of their summer interns. To make a long story a little shorter, it turns out that they had one Marketing & Research Intern spot left! After an interview and a few other things, I ended up getting the job about 2 weeks before I was headed back to Nashville–incredibly exciting!
Stay tuned for part two, with more about what I got to do in my time at redpepper!
