California Dreamin’

Posted by on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in General Information.

Ever since I can remember, my family has spent a week each summer camping at Doheny State Beach in California, about an hour from home.  Over the years, this week has become one of my favorite times of the year–it’s great to spend time with my family, especially since leaving home for college, and some of my best friends from home have also begun to think of it as their family vacation too!  Since I was in Nashville for the whole summer for the first time, I only got about three weeks at home back in May. This meant I was even more excited for that week at the beach than ever before!

To sum up my time at home, I present to you a photo tour of my ten days in California!

The guide dog puppy-in-training my family trained didn't make it through the program, so now she's ours for keeps!
My family also got a new guide dog puppy-in-training--Rocko! Stay tuned for a post about all things Rocko.
Doheny State Beach!
My brother, sister, and me at the beach.
Kevin, my friend from home, came to visit when my family was camping.
My sister's and aunt's dogs love going for bike rides through the campground.
Mom and me on our last day at the beach.
Saying goodbye to Rocko was so difficult! He'll be so big when I see him at Thanksgiving.

Being 2000 miles away from home for school is hard sometimes, but it really makes me cherish the time that I have with my family and friends when I’m home more than I ever have before.  My younger brother and I fight less, and all of our dogs definitely appreciate the months worth of love I shower them with when I’m home!
