Better Weather

Wow. This weekend, we had the most beautiful weather here in Nashville. I mean, it was a little cold for me (with highs in the mid-50s), but the sun was shining bright and there was not a cloud in the sky. Such great weather calls for great activities.

On Friday afternoon, I lounged and took a nap. Then, I went to Hillel for a delicious meal and

fantastic company. After Hillel, my friend and I went to VenUe’s Carnival. VenUe is a subcommittee of VPB that focuses on late-night alcohol-free alternative programming. We originally went to get Dore Rewards (more on that later), but when we saw the state of the art slot machines and the professional card dealers, we decided to stay for a while. My friend played a few coins on the slots, and then she actually won! It was awesome. We decided that she should not get greedy and keep playing. We knew it would be smarter to cash out and play our luck at the raffle. There were over 20 major prizes, which included a $100 Southwest gift card, an iPad mini, and 4 movie tickets. Unfortunately, we didn’t win but we did have a blast!

On Saturday, I woke up to bright sunshine. I took advantage and ran outside. It was so great to get back outdoors. Nothing compares to a jog in the fresh air. Then, I met up with my friends for brunch and a long walk in Centennial Park. The park is right across the street from our dorm. We had to take advantage.

On Saturday night, I went to dinner at my favorite restaurant in Hillsboro Village, McDougal’s Chicken. If you’re visiting Vanderbilt and like chicken fingers, I highly recommend McDougals. I get the small basket of chicken tenders tossed in Honey Bee (their most popular sauce) with Old Smokey sauce on the side. YUM. From dinner, I went to Vanderbilt Off Broadway’s performance of The Drowsy Chaperone. The play was great! It was definitely my favorite Vanderbilt production thus far. One of my friends played the old lady, so I went to support her.

It’s amazing what a little bit of good weather can do for my go-getter attitude.
