Last Day of Classes and Shrek the Halls
Today, classes ended for the fall semester. Tomorrow is reading day and exams begin on Friday. My finals schedule for this semester isn’t too bad. I had two finals papers due today, and I have three exams. I will be home for winter break in just a few short days. To celebrate the end of classes, my room mate and I went to ICE! at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. This year, the exhibit was Shrek themed. We had so much fun!
ICE! was inspired by an annual ice festival in Northern China. It is made of 2 million pounds of ice and 40 ice sculptors come all the way from China to carve it and set it all up. Walking through the exhibit felt like walking through an art museum. The displays were beautiful, colorful and detailed. Obviously, everything was made of ice, so the exhibit temperature was a crisp 9 degrees. No worries, though, upon entering, we were all outfitted with blue parkas that fell to our knees, and I came prepared with gloves and a hat.
The exhibit culminated in ice slides, which were awesome! After we were done sliding (or just freezing), we left the exhibit and walked across the property to the Opryland Hotel and Convention Center, which is known for its Christmas lights. We walked around and got to watch the filming of ESPN’s Baseball Tonight because the winter meetings are actually being held at the convention center!
Getting off campus for the evening was the perfect way to celebrate the end of classes. We got to do something Nashville-y and re-group before a long weekend of studying. Tomorrow morning, I’ll be hitting the books! Catch you on the flip side!
