A Busy Few Weeks

Posted by on Thursday, November 8, 2012 in Academics, College Life, General Information.

I’m so sorry for the short hiatus. It has just been a crazy few weeks. I can’t even begin to tell about all that has happened here since the last time I blogged. I guess then, I will just choose a few of my favorite things.

1. I only have one more test between now and finals. This is kind of bitter sweet because I still have a few papers and, of course, finals. Mostly, though, this means that the end of the semester is rapidly approaching. This has been my best semester yet, but then again, every semester is the best one yet. I have definitely enjoyed my Communication Studies classes, and genetics hasn’t even been that bad.

2. On October 30, I kicked off my Halloween celebration at the recreation center. Every year, they host the Wellness Bash that showcases many of the wellness-related groups on campus. There was free food from Calypso (which is on the card) and the Smoothie King inside the rec was passing around free samples and coupons! I happened to be leaving my workout just as the Bash was starting, and it was such a pleasant surprise!

3. I VOTED! Election season on a college campus is extremely exciting. Regardless of your political preferences, it is almost impossible not to engage in some sort of debate. For most of us undergraduates, it is our first time voting in the general election. It goes without saying that we are really excited about having a real say in the political process of our nation. On campus, there have been tons of politically oriented gatherings, including debate-watching parties and open forum discussions. And, on election night, there are watch-parties, complete with snacks, in all of the living areas on campus. My friends and I actually made a trip over to Commons to enjoy an America-themed dinner! We had a great time and watched both the speeches from both candidates. Although I did love election season on campus, I am relieved that it is over. The debates were fun, but after a while, the divisions on campus were starting to become more apparent. The goods news is that we can now move forward as a campus and as a nation.

Thanksgiving break is next week and my life is starting to calm down. Interestingly, this correlates with increased blog posts. This weekend, I am planning on going to VUt’s production of Taming of the Shrew and the opera at Blair. I can’t wait to update you!
