Carnival Night
Friday night I went to Carnival Night sponsored by the Vanderbilt Programming Board. This entirely free event was tons of fun, filled with inflatable obstacle courses, snow cones, and arcade games.
When my friends and I got there, we first slid our Commodore Cards to earn Dore Rewards points. The VPB has a points system set up for certain events throughout the year and by attending these events you can earn points, which enter you in drawings for prizes. You could even win tickets to the Country Music Awards!
First, we went into the arcade games room where we played whack-a-mole and a huge version of Fruit Ninja. Next, we went outside where there was plenty of snacks. I had a yummy snow cone, but there was also popcorn and nachos. I also watched my roommate Sophie and my friend Miriam paint frisbees. They had machines set up which spun the frisbees while you added paint and it was really cool to see the different designs!
My favorite part of the event were the inflatables back inside. They had a huge inflatable obstacle course that somehow fit indoors, which was really fun to race people on. There was also an inflatable where two people were connected by a rope and tried to see who could get their ball through the inflatable basketball hoop that they ran towards. I had never seen this one before, but it was a ton of fun to play against Sophie, and I even won! I also had fun “jousting” Miriam on another inflatable. They also had a photo booth, free pizza, and skee ball, all of which I took advantage of.
Overall, it was a great night and it was even better that everything was free! This was the first time the VPB held Carnival Night, but I hope that this becomes an annual event.
