The First Week of Classes
After a long, hot summer (Keith Urban reference), its finally great to be back at Vanderbilt. I missed college life and after just one week in school, I already feel back into the swing of things. I have to say, my first week has actually been a lot of fun. I’ve met many new people already and my professors seen to be great. If you don’t know, I am a Pre-Med Undecided Sophomore and right now I have no idea what I will be majoring. At the end of this semester I will have to declare a major so hopefully I will find something I like sometime soon. If not, I guess I’ll flip a coin or draw majors out of a hat. I do plan on visiting the new “Center” though and I’m sure they will guide me in the right direction. Maybe I should just make up my own major (Vanderbilt lets you do that!)…
Anyways, my class schedule for this year seems to be good. I decided only to take 14 hours this semester as I will be taking Biology and Organic Chemistry both of which are supposed to be challenging courses, more so the latter. But on top of those two classes, I also have signed up for a public speaking class and… History of Country Music. I’m actually really excited for my Country Music class, as it will be good to expand my horizons outside of Taylor Swift.
My public speaking class is also something I look forward to. The professor seems like a teacher who enjoys the subject he teaches and is also very charismatic. Our first speech is actually due this Thursday, so he is a demanding teacher but I have heard that this class is one of the classes that many people recommend taking as it helps a great deal. So, I’m excited.
The only thing I’m not happy about in my schedule is 8am classes on Tuesday and Thursday and 4 hour lab for Organic Chemistry. But, other than that I’m happy with how everything turned out.
Oh, and WELCOME to the Class of 2016 and Transfer students. Go ‘Dores.
