Odd Jobs
One of my recent posts was about working as a receptionist for a few days. In this post, I’ve compiled all of the ways that I’ve managed to earn some money this summer, without a steady job.
1. Dog Sitting: I babysat (dogsat?) my aunt’s dog for a week while she was in Europe for vacation a few weeks ago. While he wasn’t the most easygoing of houseguests, I got an extra dog for a week and got paid for it too!
2. Car Washing: I washed and vacuumed out both my mom’s and my aunt’s cars when I noticed they were looking a bit scruffy. This was relatively easy, and I got to work on my tan while getting the job done!
3. Babysitting: Over the course of this summer, I’ve babysat various cousins in my family–all I had to do was advertise my services (and lack of a job), and my cousins were all ready and willing to pawn their children off on me for a while! (This one was family-bonding plus a job, and thus was an especially attractive option.)
4. Receptionist-ing: Y’all know about this one already…
5. Chair Recovering: This one’s a work in progress–I’m working on re-covering a family friend’s patio chairs…we’ll see how it goes!
While I’ve enjoyed doing what I can to make some money this summer, I’m excited to get back to school and start up my job in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions again!
