New Commodore Breaks Ray Allen Story

For those of you that aren’t into basketball, here is a brief summary of what is going on in the NBA at the moment:The Miami Heat, my hometown team (even before the ‘Big 3’ arrived), won the NBA Championship. In the off-season, teams and players negotiate contracts and eventually, deals are made and players are moved.

In Miami, free-agent Ray Allen, a member of the rival Celtics Big Three, has been the prime target. The paparazzi were jumping through hoops to find Mr. Allen while he was meeting with Miami Heat executives. Amazingly enough, Adam Birnbaum, a member of the Vanderbilt Class of 2016, was the first to find Allen and ‘scoop’ the meeting to the press. He tweeted constant updates and pictures of the meeting, which took place at a restaurant in Downtown Miami.

Birnbaum became an instant Twitter sensation as sportswriters praised his investigative prowess. I don’t personally use Twitter, but my dad follows all of the sports writers that were re-tweeting and posting about Birnbaum’s sighting. Pretty impressive for an ‘amateur’ if you ask me.

In other news, I am leaving for Peru at midnight tonight. I still don’t have as many details as I would like but I do know that I will be dropped off with my host family to spend the day and settle in before my program starts on Friday.

I’ll keep you posted from Lima!
