Is This Freedom? Idle Times in Nashville
Finals Week 2012 has been both a blessing and a curse. I lucked out only having two finals this time around, but I had six days of nothing (I mean, six days to study) between my exams! Before hitting the books once again, I took some time to enjoy a few days with my fellow Commodores to enjoy the city. Here is the inside scoop on some of our adventures:
Steve Moakler Concert! Last Friday I went to 3rd and Lindsley, a small Nashville hangout near downtown, to witness an incredible performance by Steve Moakler and Nathan Angelo. The packed house and infectiously jiving atmosphere made it a night to remember. Oh, and we MET HIM (Steve Moakler) AFTERWARDS. Great guy, excellent artist. I’m never washing my right hand again.
The Dog. They had me at “hot dog.” In a instant, the pact was made. Four Crawfordians ventured into Hillsboro Village toward our final destination–The Dog, a small Nashville eatery where the specialty is, of course, hot dogs! We ate our hot dogs in silence, savoring each deliciously unhealthy bite. To end the evening, we indulged in fried bliss, consuming fried Oreos and Snickers. So. Worth. It.
Taco Mamacita +Hot and Cold. On a different night, my same group of friends satiated our food cravings at a hidden gem of a restaurant, Taco Mamacita. There is no better complement to great company than great food! Afterwards, we ventured back to Hillsboro and had dessert at a nifty place called Hot and Cold–whether it’s something “hot” or “cold,” this place has a little bit of everything. We enjoyed our delectable ice cream treats while taking in the sights and sounds on a warm Nashville night.
Fido! If you can’t tell already, homegirl LOVES to eat. Fido, located in Hillsboro Village, is a small cafe/restaurant that is the perfect place to study, relax with friends, or just to eat a good meal. I am fortunate enough to say I’ve done all three! Great food, great atmosphere. You might even catch Taylor Swift relaxing and writing her next big hit if you are lucky!
