A Visit From My Parents
This weekend, in addition to all of the Gameday madness, I was lucky enough to spend time with my parents! My parents flew in from Miami on Saturday morning and stayed until Monday evening. My dad is a big sports fan, which may explain how I became obsessed. Even though I advised against it, he insisted that he get the Gameday experience and that visiting on the Vandy-UK weekend was ideal. I was a little nervous, but everything worked out.
My parents are also into food and tourism. Whenever we travel, we try our best to indulge in the local culture. As soon as I met my parents early Saturday morning, I took them to Frothy Monkey, which is a local coffee shop just past the Gulch. From there, we ran some errands, (I know, so typical, but hey, now I am all stocked up for the rest of the year). We spent the rest of the afternoon sightseeing before our early dinner at Prince’s Hot Chicken. Prince’s is a definite Nashville staple. I absolutely recommend it, just be prepared to wait a while for your food.
We spent Saturday night at the game. My parents sat with me in the student section, which was great because they got to meet all of my friends.
Sunday and Monday were a mix of hanging out, studying, shopping and site-seeing. On Sunday night, my parents took me and two of my friends to dinner. This was another opportunity for my friends to get to know my parents and vice versa. It was so nice to get out of the Vandy Bubble with some of my favorite people!
Spring break is rapidly approaching, but I am not sure if I would have made it if my parents did not come visit.
