An Empty Campus…
I have successfully survived finals week! But being here as the dorms close is kind of eerie…
Today, as I was looking for a place to study for my final exam, I noticed something disconcerting–everything was empty. Literally, the entirety of the area outside of Last Drop Café, generally filled with students, didn’t have a single person in it.
Today is the very last day of finals, and dorms officially close tomorrow morning. In past semesters, I generally haven’t stuck around until the end of finals week, so this year it’s been a really interesting experience. Basically, everything clears out–which works nicely if you still have finals to study for and need a quiet spot.
Thankfully, some of my friends are still in town, so after our finals we had a chance to decompress by grabbing dinner and going to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie. I’m also beginning to realize campus isn’t quite as empty as I thought–the laundry room here in Kissam is still heavily in use. So even though this afternoon made me feel a little like the last person on campus, I’ve realized that I’m not–and it’s kind of nice to have things not as crowded as usual!
That being said, I’m super excited to head home tomorrow afternoon! Winter break is always filled with family, festivities, and friends–but I’ll definitely miss being here at Vandy and I’m already psyched for second semester.
