Fall weather

As the North East was slammed with snow this past week, Nashville has enjoyed a particularly beautiful Fall, complete with seventy degree days and breathtaking color changes. One of the best ways to enjoy this perk is to enjoy one of the many outside study spots on campus. Here are a few of my favorites.

As a Chicagoan, Halloween and the early weeks of November are usually the beginning of frigid temperatures and sometimes even snow. The leaves would have already fallen off the trees, and the prospect of being outside for extended length of time is very unpleasant.
Therefore, one of the best perks of going to school in Nashville is definitely the weather. On Saturday, at the heartbreaking football game against Arkansas, I was actually too warm in my Vanderbilt sweatshirt, something I could never say in Chicago. Additionally, the campus, being a national arboretum, is alight with reds, oranges, and yellows as the leaves slowly change color.

Except for football, my favorite part about this time of year is that I can still study outside. My friends never understand why I insist on being outside at every possible minute, but I want to take advantage of this weather that I never got in Chicago. Therefore, most of my favorite study spots are outside. Here are a few:

Fido, the coffee shop in Hillsboro Village, has outside seating right on bustling 21st Avenue. Great for people watching and studying alike.

-Peabody lawn is a relaxing place to study. There are benches scattered throughout, as is a great quiet place to study.

-My favorite place to study, though, is the courtyard in the Divinity School between the cafe and Benton Chapel. It is very peaceful and quiet, and great when you actually need to focus.

Vanderbilt students are always busy, so it is important to find your own quiet place to study. There are tons of secret spots on campus, great for exploring during your freshman year.
