Vanderbilt Conquers the Knight
This week was Homecoming Week. Here, homecoming is a big deal. The week is full of activities both for current students and for alumni. All of the activities, including an outdoor concert with free local food and the many reunion events, lead up to a huge parade of student organizations and the big football game. Last night, the Vanderbilt Commodores played the West Point Black Knights. We won by a score of 44-21. Jordan Rodgers (brother of Superbowl MVP Aaron Rodgers) started in place of Larry Smith.
The Commodores looked good from the start, scoring a touchdown on their first possession, and recovering a fumble on defense on the very next possession. If the Commodores continue to play the way they did against Army, they can be bowl eligible for the first time since 2008.
It was so nice to be in the stadium, supporting a winning team. I always get the chills after a win. The football team huddle on the field facing the student section and together, we sing the alma mater.
It’s good to be gold.
