Murder Mystery Party

Last night, I along with several of my Sigma Phi Lambda sisters had a murder mystery party! Sigma Phi Lambda is the Christian sorority on campus, and this party was one of our sisterhood events for the semester. I was really excited because I had never been to a murder mystery party before, but I had always wanted to go to one. It ended up being a lot of fun!

About a week before the party each girl was assigned a character. The title of the party was “Killing for the Crown” and it was themed around the Miss America pageant, therefore we were all either Miss America contestants, beauty coaches, or judges. My character was Miss New Jersey. At the party we had different snacks themed around the various states that were represented at the party, such as Mississippi Mud Cake and New York Cheesecake. Before each “round” we were given an envelope telling us various things we were supposed to tell other characters, or questions we were supposed to ask them. After the first round, one of the characters was “murdered” and we spend the rest of the time trying to figure out who the murderer was.

At the end of the night we all did a runway walk so we could show off our outfits and vote for who was best dressed. We were all dressed up in ball gowns and tiaras, which made the party seem more authentic. We then voted on who we thought the murderer was, and the secret was revealed. Awards were presented to the people who were able to figure out the murderer, as well as to the girls who were voted best dressed and the best actress. The party was a really fun way for me to relax after a stressful week, and I look forward to doing more fun events with my Phi Lamb sisters this semester!
