Halloween Downtown
This weekend, a friend had a few visitors from out of town to show around. While we did spend a lot of time introducing these people to Vanderbilt and student life here, we decided to go exploring downtown Saturday night and see all the Halloween festivities downtown.
The night started off by heading down to Wildhorse Saloon in downtown Nashville. Wildhorse is known for its line dancing and live music. They were also having a big costume contest on Saturday, though, with our costumes, we weren’t expecting to win any prizes. I had never heard the band before, but they played a cool mix of country music and classic rock, which I definitely enjoyed. Even though I am perhaps the least coordinated person ever, the employees at Wildhorse were able to help me not look completely awkward, which was appreciated. We also had fun watching all the people in incredible costumes. There was a Marie Antoinette, a Nicki Minaj, and several Captain Jack Sparrows.
After becoming exhausted from line dancing, we spent awhile walking up and down the streets of Nashville, looking for better costumes. The most creative we saw was the Mayhem Guy from the Allstate commercials. Even though it was freezing out, there were tons of people walking around checking the city out.
From there, we decided we needed to do something quintessentially Halloween: go to a haunted house. There was actually a haunted warehouse called the Slaughterhouse nearby, which ended up being really fun (and a bit scary too).
All-in-all, it was an awesome Halloween weekend. I love that there’s so much to do both on campus and off campus in downtown Nashville.
