Corn Maze Adventures
Last Friday night some of my friends and I benefited from a stack of groupons, piled in a few cars, and headed 30 minutes outside of Nashville to go to Honeysuckle Hill Farm for a CORN MAZE!!!
The ride out of the city was interesting to say the least. I was in the car of a I’ve-never-driven-on-a-country-road-let-alone-a-gravel-road Los Angeles native, and the curvy, hilly, gravel roads up to the farm were creepy to say the least. When we arrived we waited in the cold for a good 20 minutes before the rest of our group showed up. I was silly and still basking in the idea of the warm days of Nashville though at night it was already reaching quite chilly temperatures. So, my bare legs, covered only by a measly pair of running shorts, had to make due for the night.
After getting into the farm, we all first headed off to the concession stand, some to get cotton candy, others to get hot apple cider, yum! And then we took a tractor ride over to the corn maze and got started.
The plot of the corn maze was that the farmer had gone missing and we were trying to figure out who had kidnapped him, with what item, and where he was being held hostage. Guess who the suspects were? Farm Animals!!!
So while walking around the maze, we were looking for stations that had 3 clues on each of them about who, what, and where were not correct. The problem was that we kept on walking in circles and finding the same posts.
We spent about and hour and a half walking around trying to scare each other and find out who had kidnapped the farmer.
We couldn’t find one of the posts, so we gave up since we were cold and instead made wagers about who had dun it. Afterwards we headed towards the Popcorn Popper.
It sounds silly. It looks silly. It was silly. But it was also AMAZINGLY fun! The second each of us started jumping on the Popcorn Popper we became children again: laughing frivolously, falling clumsily, tripping into each other, and just having a purely innocent wonderful time.
It was a great night of autumn fun that ended with some Dunkin’ Donuts pumpkin donuts and an attempt at homework. =)
