Best Ice Cream Ever
“You’ve never been to Jeni’s?! What is wrong with you?”
This is how I started my Friday night. When my friend Stephanie found out that I had never been to her favorite ice cream place before, she demanded that I get in her car immediately so we could fix this problem.
We went to Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream, which is definitely very different from any ice cream parlor you’ve probably ever visited. The emphasis, here, is on uniqueness and naturalness. Jeni’s menu is extremely diverse and, seemingly, bizarre, but the flavors are quite delicious. When I got to the counter, the scooper told me I had to try a bunch of flavors before I could make any decisions, and I have to say that this just made the task of deciding impossible. Every flavor was just out of this world.
I ended up getting three (small) scoops since I couldn’t pick just on or two flavors. Most Jeni’s customers ask for their flavors in a specific order, but I’m not up to that level (yet), so I let the scooper decide.
My flavors were:
- On bottom: Sweet Corn and Black Raspberry
- In the middle: Goat Cheese and Tart Cherries
- On top: Riesling Poached Pear Sorbet..
- On the side? Cucumber infused water (yes, even the water has a flavor here)
I loved Jeni’s and can’t wait to go back. They’re unveiling new flavors on Friday, so I guess that’s how I’ll start next weekend too. Can’t wait!
