A Super Stressful Wednesday
For some odd reason homework, meetings, more meetings, and class seem to have gotten together to perform a sneak attack on my sanity and sleep schedule today. Looking back though, it was quite a productive 16 hours!
It all started at 8:20am (4 hours after I’d gone to bed) when one of my roommates played and sang loud rap music at my other roommate and myself to get us up. After that struggle, I headed to main campus to start getting work done. First things first, I was giving a lecture that evening on conservation for the student-run outdoors course, WilSkills, of which I am an instructor. (We go on whitewater canoeing, rock climbing, and backpacking trips every weekend and have lectures on fun subjects like conservation, hypothermia, and other outdoor principles.) During this, I managed to have a nutritional breakfast consisting of a Pumpkin Spice Latte from the Last Drop Coffee Shop. I know, right?
Next was my Genetics of Disease class, which was super interesting as per usual despite my growing hunger. Afterwards, I attended a seminar on Alzheimer’s Disease presented by a guest lecturer from Harvard Medical School. (A lot of seminars are put on by various departments around campus, I sometimes attend the ones held by the Biology Department.) At the end of this, despite causing myself to be a few minutes late to Organic Chemistry, I ran over to the Library Cafe to get some food.
Finally feeling rejuvenated after class, I walked to the building my next class was in and worked on my conservation PowerPoint some more. Here’s a link to an awesome video about the epic journey of one man, including a lot of great information about Conservacion Patagonica.
Then came my once-a-week 3-hour lecture on “carnival” literature and the idea of the “carnivalesque” based around the French author, Rabelais. It’s an awesome course! But long, especially for an obviously sleep-deprived certain someone (But don’t worry, I managed to snack on some Skittles to perk up my attention).
A meeting, and then finally my conservation lecture! It was a better success than I had assumed, which left my happily content and ready to get down for homework for tomorrow.
All in all, it was a long day. I can’t lie about that. Sometimes that’s just how it is.
But it was still a good day =)
Peace!
