Summer Research

This past January, I accepted an undergraduate research position and was recently offered to work over the summer! I will be back at Vanderbilt in early June working in the department of Biological Sciences (BSCI) in Medical Research Building III (MRB III) until early August.

The program I will be a part of during the summer is called the Systems Biology and Bioengineering Undergraduate Research Experience (SyBBURE). SyBBURE is a program that is contained in a larger institute located in Stevenson Center Building 5 known as the Vanderbilt Institute for Integrative Biosystems Research and Education (VIIBRE).

SyBBURE is geared towards giving undergraduate students an opportunity to actively research and learn more about an interdisciplinary approach to research, specifically integrating engineering and biological systems. The program takes place all summer long and is also extended into the fall and spring semesters for students who wish to continue their experience in SyBBURE.

I am really excited about this opportunity to research over the summer at Vanderbilt but I am also excited about being able to learn more about Nashville and explore the city more over the summer. During the school year, I find myself more confined to campus because I hadn’t brought a car to campus the past two years. This summer, I will have a car with me which really enhances my mobility and further fuels my knack for exploring this great city. I also plan to attend some of the great concerts that take place in Nashville over the summer.
