Just Another Vandy Weekend
Weekends at Vanderbilt are never short of things to do, and this weekend was no exception. On Friday night, I went with some friends to an ice rink in Franklin to play broomball with a group from Rolling Hills Community Church. I had gone last semester, and it was so much fun, so I was excited to play again. For those of you who might not know what broomball is, it’s essentially hockey without ice skates—you run around on the ice, attempting to hit a ball into a goal which results in lots of slipping and sliding and crashing and fun! Our team won the mini-tournament and thus got Steak and Shake gift cards, which we promptly used that evening.
Saturday, I went to my friend Caitlyn’s soccer game in the morning. I sadly didn’t get to make Holi that afternoon, but my friends who did go came back very multi-colored! That evening was BYX Island Party, which included dancing, beach balls being tossed around, and leis.
Sunday was another full day. I went to Green Hills Church in the morning, and then had brunch with some friends at Commons. Afterwards I had a floor meeting to discuss moving out (it’s crazy to think this year is already almost over!) and then took floor pictures and celebrated Hank Pride Day! It was beautiful and sunny outside, and lots of families had come out to enjoy the weather.
Just around the corner on another nearby lawn was a carnival hosted by the Caribbean Student Association. My friends Daniel and Brad were playing a few songs with their steel drum classes, so we headed over to enjoy delicious Caribbean food and great music.
This is just a sampling of what events where happening—there’s always plenty to do at Vanderbilt, and this weekend was certainly representative of that!
