American Music Recital
As you may have noticed before, I go to a lot of Blair concerts. I’m really not that cultured in the arts, it’s just that my roommate and one of my best friends are in Blair, so I’ve met a bunch of cool people from there or Spirit of Gold (the marching band).
Last Sunday, my friend Victoria and I went to the Phi Mu Alpha American Music Recital. Phi Mu Alpha is the music fraternity that most the guys I’m living with next year are in. They started the concert with all of the members singing a few classical songs, and later had the Chamber Singers do a few more. They also invited members of another chapter from Fisk University who were AWESOME and sang Amazing Grace and Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me).
The boys didn’t limit themselves to serious songs though, as one pair performed “Friday,” the Rebecca Black classic, and asked the audience to join in. Another brother played guitar and sang “Dip Doodle,” by the hilarious Adam Sandler. There was also an interesting combo of singing, guitar and clarinet on a few songs by The Strokes. My favorite performance of the night, though, was definitely “My Shiny Teeth and Me,” from The Fairly Oddparents cartoon on Nick. Brought back good memories…
Lastly, the boys serenaded the audience with a song devoted to the “sweethearts of Phi Mu Alpha,” which was adorable, to say the least. With appreciation like that, how can I say no to another concert?
