My Staycation
So as you already know, Nashville is an awesome city. Tourism is one of the city’s main forms of income. This weekend, my boyfriend came to visit me, so we fully immersed ourselves in this amazing place. He arrived on Thursday. I dropped him off at ‘The Rec’ so he could go for a swim while I went to class. I picked him up as soon as class ended and we walked to McDougal’s Chicken for his first taste of Nashville.
Thursday night, we went to downtown Nashville with all of my friends to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Downtown was quite a scene and the locals were pretty festive. We enjoyed ourselves but called it a night pretty early, so I could get to class Friday morning.
Friday after class, we went to Pancake Pantry for brunch. Although we had to wait in line, it was so worth it! My boyfriend does not even like pancakes, but he devoured his Orange-Walnut short stack and potatoes. After brunch, we walked over to Centennial Park and toured the replica of the Parthenon, which was built in 1817 for Tennessee’s Centennial Exposition.
Saturday, we went shopping and sight-seeing in the Gulch, which is an area about a mile east of campus. It has cute little restaurants and some shops, including Sweet Cece’s and Urban Outfitters. After our walk, we played sand volleyball on the Commons with some of my friends.
The highlight of my weekend was probably dinner on Saturday night. My boyfriend, 8 of my best friends, and I went to the famous Loveless Cafe for a family-style southern dinner. Besides the fact that we were all in food comas for the rest of the night, the food was great and the company was better. Eating at Loveless Cafe is a must if you are ever in Nashville!
All in all, I had a pretty successful weekend. I think my boyfriend had a great time, and I was able to enjoy Nashville from a tourist’s perspective.
