Catching Grenades with Bruno Mars Between Midterms and I’m Michael Cera with a Speech Impediment?
This past week kicked off the mid-semester phenomenon, that which we call midterms. Nobody likes studying (or do they?).. but if you do it creatively, you can definitely make it a bit more fun. Some study in groups, some study with music. A few friends and I had theory and music history listening sessions where we got together and ate snacks while listening to classical music examples that we would be tested on. It became an unspoken competition almost; we would play an example from a symphony and whoever named more characteristics about the piece essentially won bragging rights. Don’t ask me why it got this competitive..but it definitely helped our scores on the tests.
I did, however, take a long break from studying to track lead vocals on Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” with my friend (and producer) Shane Stever. We had fun tracking and producing everything in his home studio for hours upon hours.
Check out the video here. Let us know what you think! I’m really curious as to what you think I’m saying when I sing the chorus. For some reason, people seem to think I say “gwenade.” Have I been diagnosed with a speech impediment by YouTubers? Their comments never cease to entertain me. Shane and I have both been told we look like Woody from Toy Story and I look like Michael Cera. I guess I can entertain that claim?
