Vandy Basketball

Last night, the Vanderbilt Men’s Basketball Team hosted the Georgia Bulldogs in Memorial Gym. After the first day of classes, my friends and I figured that going to the basketball game was the perfect way to celebrate. Before the game, we went to McDougal’s Chicken in Hillsboro Village (the trendy area right behind campus). Although it’s not “on the card,” (meaning it accepts Vanderbilt’s meal plan), McDougal’s is one of my favorite places to eat. It’s cheap, quick, and most importantly, delicious.

We got to the game about thirty minutes before tip-off. Basketball is a big deal at Vandy, especially SEC games, and last night’s game was the SEC home opener. Another awesome thing about Vandy basketball, just like all other sports, is that admission is free for all undergraduates. Seating is, however, general admission so we had to get there early to get good seats.

The Commodores beat the Bulldogs 73-66. The game never lacked excitement, with many great plays, including Jeffrey Taylor’s slam dunk, which was number one on SportsCenter’s Top Ten Plays today.

GO DORES!
