The Town
Every month, Vanderbilt Student Government (VSG) puts on a movie in Sarratt Cinema (located in one of our student centers). Two weeks prior to the movie, the president sends out a poll with 4 or 5 of the most recent, most popular movies. Yesterday, they did the January movie showing of a movie called The Town, directed by Ben Affleck.
Usually, they do two showings of the movie on the same night – one at 7pm and one at 10pm. I went to the one at 10pm with my friend Martha. Prior to the movie, VSG provides refreshments including soda, popcorn, and candy. It’s a nice treat (and a good usage of the money we’re paying as “student activities fees”).
Overall the movie was good. It was a big violent – lots of shooting and hitting. I enjoyed the depiction of generational crime. A lot of times, if the father is in crime, then the son will end up doing the same crimes. It reminded me of Criminal Minds (a show I watched over break).
