Never a dull moment at Vandy
Events on campus are starting to pick up intensely. If you have been following college basketball, you would know that we are well within the top 25 in the NCAA Division I rankings. Tuesday night was an incredible game where we took on #12 ranked Tennessee and topped them by 19 points. It was an awesome game to go to – the stadium sold out, student section packed to capacity…I couldn’t find a seat for ten minutes! At any rate, the energy in the building that night was unmatched. I hope we go somewhere in the postseason. For halftime entertainment, there was a girl on an eight foot unicycle tossing bowls on top of her head and balancing them. At first everyone was caught by surprise by the randomness of the act, but soon was amazed by her talents.
Entertainment is never at a shortage at Vanderbilt. There are shows going on constantly all over school and especially Blair School of Music (where I spend most of my time). Furthermore, the school just announced that for our “Rites of Spring” music festival Ben Harper, Drake, Phoenix and many other famous bands will be performing.
Another random fact for all the Taylor Swift fans out there – she recently bought a penthouse across the street from campus. That’s another perk about Vanderbilt being in Nashville – you never know who you are going to run into. It’s an everyday occurrence running into Taylor Swift at Fido coffee shop, or Ben Folds walking his dog near Hillsborough village. Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman like to go to a restaurant called Bread and Co. on West End Avenue. Nashville rocks!
