Happy New Year
Being that today is only the second day of the new year, I would like to examine a problem I hear people discussing; how to shorten the year like I have known ever since my childhood. In the 90’s it was always like 98 or 99 but as soon as we hit the early 2000’s there seemed to e two different factions. One faction said 2001, 2002, etc. while the other was just saying 01, 02, etc. Now that the awkward “ohh” decade has ended, what do we call these years?
Personally, I would like to revert back to the 11, 12, etc. system. However, would this not infringe upon the uniqueness of the early part of the 20th century? Considering I was not alive during that decade I do not feel the uniqueness associated with that decade a century ago. Hopefully the only people who would care, centenarians, are all so senile that they won’t object either.
Have a happy second day of the New Year! Ohh, and Vanderbilt Men’s Basketball is beating Southern Mississippi right now 44-22 at the half, go Dores!
