The Bucket List
I apologize for not blogging since last semester. The start of senior year (wait, when did that happen?) has been insanely busy. That being said, I don’t want all the obligations to cause me miss out on the fun of senior year at Vandy and in beautiful Nashville. Therefore, I have already started working on the infamous senior year bucket list! Well, at least the fall semester edition…
First and foremost: attend every home football game. As a true Commodore football enthusiast, this is a must. Our program has improved dramatically under new head coach, James Franklin, and the experts are predicting good things for our team. The rapidly growing fan base of students, alumni and members of the Nashville community is a testament to our improvement (see Erica’s post for more on this). I look forward to cheering the ‘Dores to a second consecutive bowl game with old and new fans alike!
Like most college students, I am also a great lover of all things food. I am determined to get out of the Vandy bubble more often this semester and explore the Nashville food scene. While there are tons of cool restaurants that I want to try, I am also determined to learn how to cook before being forced out into the “real world” in May. Therefore, I look forward to exploring the Nashville Farmer’s Market and buying produce in order to cook for my friends. While I have never been (hence why it’s on my bucket list), I have heard that the farmer’s market is a great opportunity to connect with the Nashville community, support local businesses and of course find delicious food.
Finally, Nashville is called music city for a reason and I definitely hope to discover new bands and artists this fall. There are lots of free events throughout the city that offer Nashvillians the opportunity to listen to local talent and many even offer free food (in case you hadn’t noticed, I really like food). I definitely hope to explore these festivals and may even try to catch a bigger name artist at the historic Ryman Auditorium (definitely the coolest concert venue I’ve ever been to).
All in all, as the days get cooler and the leaves start to change, I am very much looking forward to exploring all that Nashville has to offer!
