The Ladies at Last Drop Coffee Shop!
I’m sure my other posts have echoed this time and time again, but the people at Vanderbilt add another dimension to the school experience.
Case in point: The Ladies of the Last Drop Coffee Shop
Now, this may not be news to people who frequent the small, modern-with-a-timeless-flair coffee shop located in the basement of Sarratt, but today was my first encounter with this particular set of ladies.
After an early morning class, my stomach promptly reminded me that I had not fulfilled the necessary breakfast requirement for the day. I caught up with a few close friends on the way out of General Psychology, and the venture to get coffee and breakfast began.
Of course, I had been to Last Drop a few occasions prior to this particular instance. The lines were usually long, as people indulged in their early morning cup of warm goodness. This visit started off like any other. My friends and I shuffled to the back of decently long line. It was here the magic began.
Piercing the dulled mumbles of still-waking students in line came a distinct voice—slightly raspy, warm, and of a northern variety, its owner called out name after name, the coffee, scones, muffin, and fruit flying from behind the small counter. The fun music that flowed from the speakers was the backdrop to jovial dancing and good-mood fun as the ladies filled order after order.
There were a total of three ladies working this morning, each happily serving hungry patrons with an inviting, personal charm. Needless to say, this simple interaction of receiving my usual scone and morning drink quickly turned into a wondrous experience that has set the tone for the rest of my day.
The entirety of Vanderbilt’s staff is warm and inviting, but in times like these I am especially thankful for all of their hard work and service to the Vanderbilt students and community. They make every experience, every cup of coffee, good ’till the Last Drop!
