Last Weekend of Relaxation
This past weekend, I spent most of my time hanging out with friends, sleeping, and mentally preparing myself for the week ahead.
Friday night, instead of going out or anything like that, my two friends, Carly and Abby, and I spent the night watching movies (Tangled and Breakfast at Tiffany’s) in a lecture hall in Wilson and painting our nails. It was so nice to just hang out in our sweatpants and not worry about studying or anything else. On Saturday morning, those same two friends and I, along with more girls from our sorority, went to Franklin, Tennessee for the Jingle Bell Run, a 5k run/walk in support of the Arthritis Foundation and Arthritis Research. Because the Arthritis Foundation is AOII’s national philanthropy, and the run is so close to Nashville, our chapter always sends as many girls as possible to the event. The run was super fun (not that I actually ran… We took advantage of the walking option) and we all went and ate brunch at Panera afterwards. After the Jingle Bell Run, I spent the next few hours being completely unproductive (napping) and then got ready for the AOII semi-formal (see Eileen‘s post). After semi-formal, a few friends (including Victoria) and I played Bananagrams (I’d never played it before, and I’m sad to say I’m not very good at it…) and Taboo (now that one, I’m awesome at) and then I went to bed. On Sunday I slept in and spent most of the day in meetings and doing a few low-key assignments for my classes.
My goals for the weekend were to sleep as much as possible–both because I had a lot of work last week and didn’t get as much sleep as I had hoped for, and because I anticipated my inevitable procrastination in the week ahead–and to be stress-free. With only nine days till I go home for break (oh geez) I have a massive list of things to get done and a permanent feeling of doom in the pit of my stomach. But while stress is inevitable, I know I’ll make it through alive. And as the semester wraps up, I’m looking forward to winter break and the prospect of a brand new semester.
