Have mission. Will travel.

Feb. 8, 2011—In my last post, I talked about all the places we go overseas and how many international students find their way to us.  What about the domestic students (the ones who fill 94% of our class)? How does OUA reach out to y’all?

Gatekeepers

Nov. 18, 2009—When I was a high school student visiting colleges and universities I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up. VU Roadshows Facebook and Mea Culpas

Jul. 31, 2009—The summer is gear-up time for our office. Plans are being made, flights being booked, and programs being scheduled. Our biggest tradition in travel is our 2 week, nationwide blitz of admissions receptions called Vanderbilt Roadshows. Less than two weeks have passed since our decision letters have left the office and we’re all out on the road simultaneously talking to admitted students and families, and introducing ourselves to interested students for the incoming class of...

October is College-Fair-O-Rama!

Oct. 10, 2007—I’m at my home away from home, the Hartford Airport (technically, my home away from home is the Nashville airport, but I know this place pretty well too), waiting to head back to Nashville for a quick turnaround (home for less than 16 hours). I flew up for just one college fair last night, and...

Why do I visit high schools?

Oct. 5, 2007—As I was thinking about this blog and all of the details I have included about where I go and what I do, it never occurred to me that maybe the students don’t really get WHY I do these high school visits. In order to benefit the readers of my blog (in addition to the...
